Updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages that fix one bug are now available
for Red Hat Network Satellite 5.4.

Description

Red Hat Network Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for provisioning, monitoring, and remote management
of multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool.

This update fixes the following bug:

• Prior to this update, channel exports created by Red Hat Network Satellite 5.4

did not contain all necessary metadata for package files without a valid
checksum (that is, symbolic links and directories). Consequent to this, channel
exports created by Satellite 5.4 were not consumable by older Satellite
versions. This problem has been fixed, and Satellite 5.4 channel exports can now
be successfully imported by older Satellite versions. (BZ#688626)

All users of Red Hat Network Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages, which fix this bug.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

Before creating a new channel export with rhn-satellite-exporter,
make sure the exporter cache is cleaned.

To clean the exporter cache, run the following command as root:

rm -rf /var/cache/rhn/xml-*

Before importing the newly created channel export with satellite-sync,
make sure the importer cache is cleaned.

To clean the importer cache, run the following command as root:

rm -rf /var/cache/rhn/satsync/*
