Topic

Updated w3m packages that fix two bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 5.

Description

The w3m program is a pager (or text file viewer) that can also be used as a text
mode web browser.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Prior to this update, the RPM spec file did not mark the /etc/w3m/config file

"noreplace", allowing the update process to overwrite the configuration without
a backup. This error has been fixed, and the /etc/w3m/config file with local
changes is now properly backed up when the w3m package is updated. (BZ#615859)

  • Previously, the NOTES section in the manual page for w3m incorrectly stated

that the document is written for the 0.2.1 release of the program. This update
corrects this information, and 0.5.1 is now used as expected. (BZ#615865)

All users of w3m are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red
Hat Network to apply this update are available at
