Topic

Updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages that fix multiple bugs and add an
enhancement are now available for Red Hat Network Satellite Server.

Description

Red Hat Network Satellite Server is a system management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • After successfully installing a Red Hat Enterprise Linux system on IBM System

z using Kickstart, Cobbler applied a snippet that overwrite a previously-valid
network setup created by Anaconda, with the result that the network was
non-functional. The Cobbler snippet that rendered the network inoperative has
been removed in these updated packages. (BZ#522251)

  • When syncing systems or profiles, missing packages were incorrectly identified

due to incorrect handling of package metadata. This update ensures that missing
packages are now correctly identified. (BZ#581832)

  • When a system had more than one IP address, such as occurred with multiple

interfaces and/or NICs (Network Interface Cards), the System Details -> Overview
tab displayed one of those IP addresses, but not always the primary one.
Refreshing the page could have caused that IP address value to change. The
System Details -> Overview tab now always displays the primary IP address for
the system. (BZ#628755)

  • An incompatibility between method parameters caused the

system.convertToFlexEntitlement method to fail with an unhandled internal
exception. (BZ#640928)

  • The logic used to set the value of entitlements contained an error which could

have caused the amount of other entitlements to become zero. Entitlement values
are now properly calculated and retained. (BZ#640958)

  • It was possible for a package of an incompatible architecture to end up in a

channel due to a missing check for architecture compatibility. Packages of
incompatible architectures no longer end up in the wrong channel. (BZ#644880)

  • When an activation key which had a specific base channel specified instead of

the default one was used to connect to the server, child channels normally
associated with the activation key were subscribed to. This could cause certain
packages in those child channels, such as the rhn-virtualization-host package,
to not install as expected. Correct child channels are now associated with an
activation key which uses a non-default base channel. (BZ#645391)

  • Synchronization of Cobbler profiles failed with a taskomatic error if the

Cobbler distribution profile had changed. (BZ#652626)

  • When the VT channel was unavailable for an organization, attempting to add a

virtualization entitlement failed with an Internal Server Error. (BZ#662981)

  • Unescaped characters in XML (such as ampersand, less than, and greater than

symbols) in the generated updateinfo.xml file could have caused certain yum
operations to fail. These characters are now properly escaped so that yum
completes its operations as expected. (BZ#663403)

  • A request to download a large package could have caused a crash due to a Java

out-of-memory error. With this update, large packages are served only if the
amount of available memory is able to handle them. If not, a
PackageDownloadException exception is raised. (BZ#663490)

  • When a Red Hat erratum was added to a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 cloned

channel, the channel version was improperly recognized as Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 5, and an incorrect errata list was offered. The channel version is now
correctly recognized as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. (BZ#664717, BZ#642926)

  • The Satellite Server disallowed a system which was eligible for Flex Guests

from subscribing to a child channel when regular entitlements had run out, even
though Flex Guest entitlements were available. (BZ#673394)

These updated packages also provide the following enhancement:

  • The Go to Monitoring -> Probe Suites -> Probes tab now displays the name of

probe suites which contain one or more probes. (BZ#661212)

Red Hat Network Satellite users are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages, which fix these bugs and add this enhancement.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red
Hat Network to apply this update are available at
