Topic

An updated kernel-utils package that fixes one bug and adds one enhancement is
now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.

Description

The kernel-utils package provides kernel-related support utilities, such as CPU
frequency scaling support, processor microcode updates, and a DMI decoding
utility.

This update fixes the following bug:

  • Previously, Red Hat Enterprise Linux guests on Kernel-based Virtual Machine

(KVM) experienced problems with the clock skew. Due to this behavior, the clock
drifted. This update adds a script to set all recommended parameters. The time
is now set as expected and no more time drift occurs. (BZ#517365)

This update also adds the following enhancement:

  • This update adds the most recent version of the Central Processing Unit

microcode, which is supplied by Intel. (BZ#499418)

All kernel-utils users are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves fixes this bug and adds this enhancement.
