Topic

Updated spacewalk-backend packages that fix multiple bugs and add one
enhancement are now available for Red Hat Network Satellite.

Description

Red Hat Network (RHN) Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for provisioning, remote management and monitoring of
multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Previously, --force for already existing packages in RHN Satellite failed in

rhnpush. This was due to an incorrect condition. With this update, --force
behaves as expected in rhnpush. (BZ#624092)

  • Previously, the rhn-satellite-exporter exported packages based only on the

time they were synchronized into Satellite. Due to this behavior, the
incremental dump created almost the complete channel. This update can export
packages based on either time when package appeared in RHN or time it's been
synced into Satellite. (BZ#650165)

  • Previously, satellite-sync did not honor CDN preferences for Location Aware

Updates. Due to this behavior, satellite-sync. got the RHN Hosted content from
satellite.rhn.redhat.com. This update honors the CDN flag and synchronizes the
downloadable content from a CDN node physically closer to it. (BZ#653814)

  • Previously, the update-packages script did not correctly report corrupted

packages. Due to this update, it was not always clear which packages were
corrupt and which were not. This update correctly reports the corrupted
packages. (BZ#655207)

  • Previously, the spacewalk-repo-sync command did not trigger errata cache

rebuilds. Due to this behavior, applicable package updates were not visible.
With this update, spacewalk-repo-sync automatically triggers cache rebuilds.
Now, all applicable packages are visible. (BZ#658422)

  • Previously, the rhncfg-manager mode "diff-revisions" was unable to state

differences in SELinux context. This update corrects this behavior. Now, the
mode "diff-revisions"prints the diff header, even without diff in context and
when the file only differs in SELinux context, ownership or attributes.
(BZ#671130)

This update also adds the following enhancement:

  • Previously, satellite-sync did not use any sorting for channels. This update

sorts base and child channels. Now, the readability of the output is increased.
(BZ#653163)

All Red Hat Network Satellite users are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages, which resolve these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filenames]

where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.

Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.

Affected Products

  • BZ - 650165 - Incremental dump creation in Satellite 5.4 is flawed
  • BZ - 653163 - RFE: Sort base and child channels in satellite-sync listing
  • BZ - 653814 - satellite-sync does not honor CDN (Location Aware Updates) preferences
  • BZ - 655207 - update-packages fails when a package is corrupt but does not say which package it is
  • BZ - 658422 - spacewalk-repo-sync doesn't trigger errata cache update
  • BZ - 671130 - httpd - Error importing config_mgmt: No module named config_common.file_utils
