Topic

Updated spacewalk-backend packages, which fix several problems with
satellite-sync and activation keys are now available for Red Hat Network
Satellite Server.

Description

Red Hat Network Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for provisioning, remote management and monitoring of
multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool. The
spacewalk-backend packages provide the common code required by all Red Hat
Network Satellite servers or proxies.

This update addresses the following issues:

  • All imports from disk dumps are treated as incremental, therefore technical

preview packages are not removed on disconnected Satellites. (BZ#587550)

  • previously, exports of RHN Proxy channel to disk dump did not have the record

for the table RHNCHANNELPRODUCT, which is required to activate the RHN Proxy.
With this update, the rhn-satellite-exporter correctly exports all required
tables and this issue is resolved. (BZ#521802)

  • previously, the rhn-satellite-exporter didn't export the correct number of

packages for specified --start-dates. With this update, the correct number of
packages is exported for specified --start-dates. (BZ#589524)

  • previously, the profile_id could not be found when registering with an

activation key. With this update, the package checks first whether the package
profile was set at the session level and then looks in the kickstart profile.
The profile_id is now found when registering with a activation key. (BZ# 604094)

  • When using a reactivation key with additional activation keys that included

multiple config channels, the config channel ordering was not properly set. With
this update, the channel ordering is set correctly and this issue is resolved
(BZ# 575867)

  • previously, RHN Satellite returned errors when users tried to register

hardware which contained Unicode characters. (BZ# 619702)

All Red Hat Network Satellite users are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages which address these problems.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filenames]

where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.

Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

or

yum upgrade

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
