Topic

Updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages that address various issues with web
UI and provisioning are now available.

Description

Red Hat Network Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for the provisioning, remote management and
monitoring of multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool.

These updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages provide the following fixes:

  • When upgrading packages using the System Set Manager, packages would be

excluded if multiple arches were available to select. (BZ# 585176)

  • When kickstarting a system, any kernel options that do not include a value

would be displayed as "name=" instead of "name". (BZ# 572510)

  • When creating a new channel, base channels would be displayed multiple times

in the parent channel drop down list. (BZ# 518027)

  • After upgrading to Satellite 5.3, the option to run remote commands before or

after a package install within the System Set Manager was missing. (BZ# 529359)

  • Adding Red Hat provided errata to an x86_64 cloned channel would exclude some

64bit packages. (BZ# 563859)

  • "Page Request Error" is displayed when clicking on a probe from the Probe

Suite list page. (BZ# 570975)

  • Clicking on the System's or "System Groups" may take two or three minutes to

load and return with a "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable" error. (BZ# 573153)

  • On the User list pages, sorting by data would lead to an incorrectly sorted

list. (BZ# 574594)

  • Using the Auto-Update feature on systems would result in errata being

scheduled for systems that did not need them (BZ# 576301)

  • Using the Auto-Update feature on systems would result in multiple instances of

the same errata being scheduled for those systems. (BZ# 576314)

  • When using the Clone Errata feature, clicking on the "Owned Errata" link would

lead to a non-existent page. (BZ# 577355)

Users of Red Hat Network Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages, which resolve these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filenames]

where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains
the desired RPMs.

Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

or, for RHEL 5:

yum update

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.

After installing the needed packages you will need to run:

rhn-satellite restart

Affected Products

  • Red Hat Satellite with Embedded Oracle 5.3 x86_64
  • Red Hat Satellite with Embedded Oracle 5.3 i386

Fixes

  • BZ - 518027 - While creating new channel - base channels show up multiple times in drop down lists
  • BZ - 563859 - 'Add Red Hat Errata' on x86_64 cloned channel not adding 64 bit packages
  • BZ - 570975 - "Page Request Error" and traceback email when attempting to go to probe from Probe Suite page
  • BZ - 572510 - RHN Satellite 5.3 kernel options are not included correctly
  • BZ - 573153 - Satellite 5.2 & 5.3: Systems tab or System Groups link takes 2-3+ min to load or fails with "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable"
  • BZ - 574594 - Sorting by date not working as expected on Users page
  • BZ - 576301 - Auto-update feature schedules errata for systems that do not need errata
  • BZ - 576314 - Auto-update feature schedules errata multiples times for each system
  • BZ - 577355 - When cloning errata - links pointing to erratas under 'Owned Errata' leads to 404 page not found
  • BZ - 585176 - RHNS 530 - RHNSet seems to filter packages when selected through SSM -> Upgrade
