Topic

An updated anaconda package that fixes several bugs and add various
enhancements is now available.

Description

Anaconda is the system installer.

This updated anaconda package provides fixes for the following bugs:

  • KVM adapter S3-1621 is now properly recognized again (#445486)
  • anaconda waits for USB keys and CDROM devices when running on blade

machines (#460566)

  • Malayalam version has been updated to avoid overlapping buttons and text

that made the UI unusable (#479353)

  • driver discs can now be located on CD and DVD devices (#485060)
  • kickstart files and driver discs can again be downloaded through a

network (#495042)

  • anaconda now avoids reinstalling packages which do not have to be

reinstalled (#495796)

  • network interfaces not meant to be enabled at boot time now have hotplug

turned off too so that module loading does not trigger the configuration
either (#498086)

  • The "--label" option for the "part" kickstart command now works correctly

(#498856)

  • rescue mode now properly detects root partition even if it resides on a

logical volume and is identified by label in /etc/fstab (#502178)

  • NETTYPE qeth has an updated description and mentions Hipersockets to help

users with manual configuration (#511962)

  • anaconda now honours the RUNKS variable on S/390 (#513951)
  • driver discs that reside on partitionless devices are properly recognized

  • anaconda allows you to change your mind between different partitioning

options safely (#516715)

  • if anaconda finds a valid iBFT network configuration, it configures the

network with the provided information (#517768)

  • IPv6 addresses must be provided in the [address]:port form to comply with

the relevant RFCs (#525054)

  • kickstart lines commented with multiple # characters are properly

regarded as comments now (#525676)

  • the ghostscript-fonts package required by Ghostscript is now properly

installed when needed (#530548)

  • anaconda now always instructs the kernel to check for multipath devices

on S/390 (#538129)

  • EDD parsing was fixed to correctly support booting on system containing

SAS6i/R with two configured RAIDs (#540637)

  • when drives needed to reconstruct a LVM device are deselected and not

used for installation, the LVM device is safely ignored (#545869)

  • when a ksdevice is set to link, anaconda no longer reverts to interactive

mode during a kickstart install (#549751)

  • EFI boot images for Itanium systems are smaller now, to allow booting on

size limited EFI ROMs (#556976)

  • the list of included xorg drivers was updated to include newest additions

(#567666)

  • anaconda waits longer for network interfaces on S/390 systems to get

ready (#506742)

In addition, this updated package provides the following enhancements:

  • the CMS script for starting the install process on z/VM is now included

in the images (#475343)

  • support for Brocade Fibre Channel to PCIe Host Bus Adapters is now

included to Anaconda (#475707)

  • NFS options can be set during the interactive install (#493052)
  • Hypervisor arguments can be specified in the kickstart file (#501438)
  • Mpath root device can be pointed to an arbitrary LUN to use (#502768)
  • kickstart files can be located on password-protected FTP servers

(#505424)

  • anaconda now copies %pre and %post kickstart scriptlets to /tmp together

with a log (#510636)

  • anaconda now supports the Reipl feature to instruct s/390 systems about

where to boot next (#512195)

  • anaconda on PowerPC systems now supports N-Port-ID Virtualization

  • anaconda now explicitly uses the system python (#521337)
  • Emulex OneConnect iSCSI NIC is now supported in the install environment

(#529442)

  • PMC Sierra MaxRAID controller adapters are now supported in the install

environment (#532777)

  • kickstart files now support deselecting package groups (#558516)

Users are advised to upgrade to this updated anaconda package, which
resolves these issues and adds these enhancements.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
