Updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages that address issues using the
satellite-sync command.

Description

Red Hat Network Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for the provisioning, remote management and
monitoring of multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool.

These updated packages fix the following bugs:

• the satellite-sync command failed with a traceback when the database was

not running. (BZ#494813)

• performance degradation of the satellite-sync command in Red Hat Network

Satellite 5.3.0. (BZ#527288)

• using the satellite-sync command with the '--org [organization_number]'

option moved the channels into that organization without warning.
(BZ#528227)

Note: The performance degradation of the satellite-sync command has not
been addressed in all reported parts. The speed of the first sync from
rhn.redhat.com is not yet completely optimized and will be addressed in
future errata.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filenames]

where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.

Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the appropriate command for RHEL 4:

up2date

or, for RHEL 5:

yum update

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.

Fixes

• BZ - 494813 - satellite-sync: 'ORA-12541: TNS:no listener\n', 'rhnsat', 'Connection_Connect(): server attach
• BZ - 527288 - satellite-sync taking 2-3 times longer with 5.3 as it did with 5.2
• BZ - 528227 - Sat-sync with a different org it will remove the first.
