This is the RHN Satellite Server 5.2.1 General Availability Release.

Description

This release of RHN Satellite fixes the following issues:

• An issue when the database was running into a deadlock and produced a

traceback from UpdateErrataCacheCommand was addressed. [bz# 468737]

• API function getEventHistory returned error when called after updating

packages on client from the Satellite; the datatypes causing the error were
fixed. [bz# 474079]

• Traceback during satellite-sync when errata has no description was

addressed. [bz# 474081]

• Support for yum group operations for cloned channels was added. [bz# 475846]
• Failure of simultaneous push of packages with different architectures,

when associated to the same errata, was fixed. [bz# 476492]

• Performance of selecting the Channels tab was improved. [bz# 483408]
• The taskomatic process was causing load spikes when processing

auto-update for erratas. [bz# 487611]

• Performance of bulk unsubscribing systems via System Set Manager was

improved. [bz# 488545]

• Ordering of config channels under activation key was fixed. [bz#

495583]

• New option use_repo_locking can be used to prevent multiple processes

generating yum metadata for the same channel to run. [bz# 495814]

• Reprovisioning with a new base channel via activation key was fixed. [bz#

496145]

• Wrong computation of applicable errata and package counts was fixed. [bz#

501086, 502963]

• Running satellite-sync from export on NFS was leading to [Errno 22]

Invalid argument error. The fcntl locking code was changed to address this
problem. [bz# 502665]

• When selected systems for configuration file deployment include

Configuration enabled clients which do not have deploy enabled, Satellite
generated 500: Internal Server Error. This issue was fixed. [bz# 502954]

• Wrong errata to be applied and wrong packages to be removed were selected

when using multiple browser tabs; the selection is now per-system. [bz# 502961]

• Rescheduling failed action for more than one system is slow and may fail

with 500: Internal Server Error; the cause was addressed. [bz# 502969, 502972]

• Satellite Web GUI would not allow patch to be installed to target Solaris

system; the systems are now correctly found and offered. [bz# 503987]

• Taskomatic would show tracebacks and the same errata notification would

be resent; the issue was addressed by tuning the query to use less
temporary space. [bz# 518080]

• The efficiency of yum metadata generation was improved by only running it

for channels that had changed. [bz# 527199]

• Calculation of errata cache was inconsistent across the application; the

issue was fixed. [bz# 529053]

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
