Topic

Updated system-config-printer packages that resolve several issues are now
available.

Description

system-config-printer is a print queue configuration tool with a graphical
user interface (GUI).

These updated system-config-printer packages provide fixes for the
following bugs:

  • the "Delete" button was able to be clicked even when a remote print queue

was selected.

  • changes made to server settings were not applied when switching to a

printer view even when the user was asked by a dialog whether to apply them
and chose to do so.

  • the URI encoding and decoding functions contained an error that corrupted

URIs containing escaped characters.

  • if an unhandled HTTP error occurred, system-config-printer printed a

traceback instead of correctly showing an error dialog.

  • the dialog for adding a printer could get into a state where it was not

possible to proceed.

  • the dialog for adding a printer, in some cases, incorrectly selected a

default printer model when this information was not known.

  • the application incorrectly reported that a required driver was not

installed in situations involving a complicated filter pipeline.

  • applying changes to a print queue which contained authentication details

in its device URI incorrectly resulted in those authentication details
being removed.

  • system-config-printer behaved incorrectly when it encountered unknown

default job options.

  • when trying to automatically select a close match for a printer model not

in the printer database, sometimes a sub-optimal model was chosen. The
selection algorithm has been improved in these updated packages.

  • system-config-printer had to be restarted after changing server settings

because it did not automatically reconnect to the CUPS server.

  • the minimum width of the system-config-printer application window was too

large in some cases.

  • the SMB browsing window failed in certain situations.

All users of system-config-printer are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages, which resolve these issues.
