Topic

Updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages to handle a bug fix is now
available.

Description

These updated Satellite backend packages (rhns*) include the following fix:

  • Fix to correct the updateinfo.xml to escape &, <, and > characters so yum

and pup function as expected

Users are advised to

  • update these packages with

up2date rhns* or
for Satellite-5.2-5Server do 'yum update rhns*'

  • restart apache

for Satellite 4.2, 5.0 do 'service httpd restart'
for Satellite 5.1, 5.2 do 'service satellite-httpd restart'

  • Clear the old metadata cache with 'rm -rf /var/cache/rhn/repomd*'

The next time yum client checks in with the satellite server the cache
regeneration should be triggered and clean metadata cache should generated.

which resolve these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filenames]

where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.

Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
