Topic

An updated initscripts package that fixes a bug related to restarting the
networking service in the presence of the bonding driver is now available.

Description

The initscripts package contains the basic system scripts used to boot your
Red Hat system, change runlevels, and shut the system down cleanly.
Initscripts also contains the scripts that activate and de-activate most
network interfaces.

This updated initscripts package fixes a bug related to starting the
"network" service after it has already been started successfully. When
using the bonding driver to aggregate multiple network interfaces into a
single bonded interface, restarting the network service after it has been
started causes the network to become unavailable. In this updated package,
restarting a network with bonded interfaces succeeds as it should.

All users of initscripts are advised to upgrade to this updated package,
which resolves this issue.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use
the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
