Topic

An updated gnome-power-manager package that fixes various bugs is now
available.

Description

GNOME Power Manager uses the information and facilities provided by the
HAL, and displays icons and handles user callbacks in interactive GNOME
sessions. GNOME Power Preferences allows authorized users to set policies
and change preferences.

This updated package fixes the following bugs:

  • on the Acer Aspire 3002LCi, when the "When the power button is pressed"

option was set to "Ask me", users were never prompted for the action to
take when the power button was pressed, and the system shutdown. As well,
the screen may have been dimmed, requiring a reboot to become active again.
This issue may have affected other notebooks.

  • on multi-battery systems, when one battery was emptied, an unexpected

emergency suspend-to-disk occurred. In this updated package, a
suspend-to-disk no longer occurs in multi-battery systems, when one
battery is charged, and the other is empty, which resolves this issue.

  • in the previous gnome-power-manager package, when running on power,

gnome-power-manager incorrectly set the CPU frequency,
"/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu[X]/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold", from
user-space. In this updated package, gnome-power-manager no longer sets the
CPU frequency from user-space, which resolves this issue.

Users of gnome-power-manager are advised to upgrade to this updated
package, which resolves these issues.
