Topic

Updated gedit packages that fix various bugs are now available.

Description

gedit is the official text editor of the GNOME desktop environment. While
aiming at simplicity and ease of use, gedit is a powerful general-purpose
text editor.

This update addresses the following problems:

  • starting a remote X11 session when a local instance of gedit was already

running under the same user would cause the local instance to close and the
remote instance to be unable to open. This has been fixed so that gedit
will open a remote instance while also retaining the local one (i.e. not
closing it).

  • incorrect string translations for the Korean language in gedit's print

preview.

  • gedit was not able to save changes to a file on a Windows share mounted

using the Common Internet File System (CIFS).

Users of gEdit are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use
the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
