Synopsis
logrotate bug fix update

Bug Fix Advisory

Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated logrotate packages that fix various bugs are now available.
Description
The logrotate utility simplifies the administration of multiple log files.
Logrotate allows for automatic rotation, compression, removal, and mailing
of log files.
These updated packages fix the following bugs:
- lograte ignored the size directive, which resulted in certain log files
failing to be rotated.
- the logrotate man page incorrectly referred to the default state file
being "/var/lib/logrotate/status". The man page has been updated to
reflect the correct default state file, "/var/lib/logrotate.status".
- the logrotate man page documented the "size=[value]" option, where
[value] is a number of bytes, unless otherwise specified. The "=" is not
required. The man page has been updated to reflect the correct "size
[value]" option.
- the default logrotate configuration rotated "/var/log/wtmp" too often,
which could result in losing valuable history information. In these updated
packages, the default configuration for "/var/log/wtmp" has the "minsize
1M" directive set, which resolves this issue.
All users of logrotate should upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve these issues.
