Topic

An updated netdump-server package that fixes a bug and adds enhancements
to logging is now available.

Description

netdump-server is a utility that listens to the network for clients that
crash and uses the netdump protocol to receive a memory dump and a stack
trace.

The updated package provides the following bug fix:

  • if a thread dump from a client took longer than 10 seconds, the client

may miss a reboot command from the server. As such, the client may fail to
reboot when needed and continue to be unresponsive to future reboot packets
from the server.

The updated package adds the following enhancements:

  • the update allows the netdump-server utility will continue waiting for

responses from the netdump client as the server receives log messages from
the client. This behavior persists even if the netdump client fails to
acknowledge further commands.

  • the netdump-server package now has a more verbose logging option. This

provides more information from dumps, helping to better determine errors
in processing.

Users are advised to upgrade to this updated netdump-server package, which
resolves the bug and adds the enhancements.
