Topic

Updated anaconda packages that add various enhancements and fix various
bugs are now available.

Description

The anaconda package contains portions of the installation program that can
be run by the user for reconfiguration and advanced installation options.

Enhancements in these updated packages include:

  • Add root device multipath support.
  • Support new driver disks.
  • Display extra device info for multipath devices.
  • Separate IPv4 and IPv6 stack configuration per interface.
  • Support large number of network interfaces.
  • Add support for HEA, Netxen 10gb, and Areca RAID devices.
  • List network interfaces in text mode for configuration.
  • Add dmidecode program for kickstart scripts.
  • Support for multiple %ksappend directives.
  • Add layer2 networking support for System Z.
  • Documentation of kickstart nfs mount options.
  • Allow installation of debuginfo packages.

Bugs fixed include:

  • Display black background during VNC installs.
  • Write additional yum repositories to anaconda-ks.cfg.
  • Probe all LUNs for zFCP storage.
  • Initialize multipath devices in LUN order.
  • Use /dev device nodes to probe RAID superblocks.
  • Fix ksdevice=BOOTIF boot parameter.
  • Enable F12 shortcut key in the registration key dialog box.
  • Fix yum. YumBase logging error during upgrades.
  • Fix network interface selection during kickstart installs.
  • Updated translation files.
  • ta_IN and si_LK language fixes.
  • Fix VNC installation mode on System Z.
  • Output correct partitioning commands in kickstart file.
  • Create tape device nodes when tape device driver is loaded.
  • Do not display deselected drives when custom disk layout is chosen.
  • Fix errors in the text mode partitioning user interface.
  • Fix launching xterm in rescue mode.
  • Correctly count the number of SCSI disk devices in the system.
  • Fix NFS ISO installation method problems when doing kickstart installs.
  • Do not run DHCPv6 client for IPv6 auto neighbor discovery.
  • Prompt for network information when DHCP fails.
  • Add missing shared libraries needed for scp and urllib2.
  • Set cwd for scripts executing in a chroot.
  • Warn user when more than 15 partitions are detected on ATA disks.
  • GFS kernel modules installed by default for Advanced Platform.
  • Fix getting a kickstart file if ip=dhcp is given.
  • Fix connecting to iSCSI targets for installation.
  • De-sensitize review checkbox if custom partition layout is selected.
  • Don't traceback when a logical volume is not given a size.
  • Write key --skip to anaconda-ks.cfg file.
  • Fix using static IP addresses on network installs.
  • Fix line wrapping on partition method screen.
  • Correct writing of IPv6 and HOSTNAME options in /etc/sysconfig.
  • Don't log spurious errors when unmounting /mnt/source.
  • Fix loader network configuration UI flow.
  • Fix /etc/fstab entries when migrating from ext2 to ext3.
  • Don't traceback when shutting down iSCSI devices.
  • Correct UI focus on installation number entry box.
  • Add sfdisk back to rescue mode.
  • Always install the correct kernel-devel package.
  • Fix a crash when using the device kickstart command.
  • Fix a traceback when going back from new install to upgrade.
  • Fix iSCSI portal discovery.
  • Fix netmask sanity checking.
  • Provide detailed disk information in text mode.
  • Remove invalid RAID partitioning requests.
  • Don't require a gateway or nameserver when configuring iSCSI.
  • Write out a more complete %packages section of the anaconda-ks.cfg file.
  • Fix bringing up zFCP devices on kickstart installs.
  • Enable multipathd on mpath installations.
  • Add Xen block devices to the /etc/multipath.conf blacklist.
  • Use /dev/mapper/* names for multipath devices in /etc/fstab rather than

labels.

  • Don't always ignore network configuration in favor of DHCP.

Users should upgrade to these updated anaconda packages, which fix these
bugs and add these enhancements.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use the Red Hat Network
to download and update your packages. To do so, run the following command
(as root):

pup

Alternatively, for a command-line interface, run the following command:

yum update

To register your system to RHN, use the following command:

rhn_register
