Topic

Updated initscripts packages that fix various bugs are now available.

Description

The initscripts package contains the basic system scripts used to boot
your Red Hat system, change runlevels, and shut the system down cleanly.
Initscripts also contains the scripts that activate and deactivate most
network interfaces.

Bugs fixed in these updated packages include:

  • The console keymap was not loaded if an additional serial console was used.
  • LVM could not be used on zFCP disks.
  • Logical volumes were not mounted if any exported volume group was present.
  • Aliased interfaces on top of V-LAN or bonding interfaces didn't work

correctly.

  • ifdown didn't remove members from a bonding interface.
  • Static routes for aliased interfaces were not added by (service network

restart).

  • It was not possible to manually specify a default gateway on the

169.254/16 network.

  • qeth interfaces were not named correctly if some of them were configured

with ONBOOT=no.

  • ifup of a bonding device with qeth slaves could fail the first time it

was run after system boot.

  • MACADDR could not be used to change the MAC address of bonding slave devices.

Enhancements include:

  • Support for dm-multipath over iSCSI was added.
  • Support for the -d option was added to the killproc function in

/etc/rc.d/init.d/functions.

Users are advised to upgrade to these updated initscripts packages, which
resolve these issues.

relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
