Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated squid packages that contain all available fixes for squid-2.5, fix
errors with more than 1024 opened file descriptors and some minor fixes.
Description
Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for Web clients,
supporting FTP, gopher, and HTTP data objects.
The new packages provide all available fixes for squid-2.5.
Previously, squid could not handle more than 1024 simultaneous connections
via proxy server. The updated packages fix this problem by adding a new
option in the squid configuration file.
Previously, squid could abort when getting status via services on a box
without FQDN. The updated packages fix this problem.
Previously, squid checked an access to broken web servers and wrote the
"Excess data from" warning to log files. These messages are usually
harmless and this update suppresses them.
Previously, it was not possible to send 302 redirects via a redirector
in response to CONNECT requests. The updated package should fix the problem.
All users of squid should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
