Synopsis

xterm bug fix update

Type/Severity

Bug Fix Advisory

Red Hat Lightspeed patch analysis

Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.

View affected systems

Topic

Updated xterm packages that fix several bugs are now available.

Description

The xterm program is a terminal emulator for the X Window System. It
provides DEC VT102 and Tektronix 4014 compatible terminals for
programs that cannot use the window system directly.

This update fixes a bug that could cause xterm hang up, and reverts a
setting which caused the backspace key to emit ^? character instead of ^H.

All xterm users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
