Topic
Updated lvm2 packages that include various bug fixes and enhancements are
now available.
Description
The lvm2 package contains support for logical volume management.
These updated lvm2 packages now include the following enhancements and bug
fixes:
- Increases the maximum permitted stripe size to match the physical extent
size if you are using metadata in LVM2 format
- Supports the creation and manipulation of simple mirrors using 'lvcreate
- m' and 'lvconvert'
- Allows 'vgrename' to distinguish between two identically-named Volume
Groups if you supply the uuid of the one you want to rename in place of its
name
- Allows the '--partial' flag to be used with the 'pvs' command. You can
use this to find details of the Volume Group to which a stray Physical
Volume belongs.
- If two or more Volume Groups with the same name are found on a system,
the tools use one that is not exported
- Fixes the setting and resetting of the Physical Volume 'exported' flag
shown in the 'pv_attr' column in reports
- Updates the information about extent size limitations in the manual pages
for 'vgchange' and 'vgcreate'
- Causes 'pvremove' (with -f) to fail if run against a device not
recognised as a Physical Volume
- Invalidates the internal metadata cache if the composition of a Volume
Group is discovered to have been changed externally
- Suppresses the error message indicating the locking library failed to
load during the early boot sequence
- Fixes some small memory leaks and other bugs found by static code analysis
- Ignores configuration file parameters set to empty strings
- Fixes the expiration of old archive files
All users of lvm2 should upgrade to these updated packages, which include
these bug fixes and enhancements.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
Network to download and update your packages. To launch the Red Hat
Update Agent, use the following command:
