Updated nfs-utils packages that address various issues are now available.

Description

The nfs-utils package provides a daemon for the kernel NFS server and
related tools, providing a much higher level of performance than the
traditional Linux NFS server used by most users.

The following issues have been addressed:

– rpc.statd died immediately when STATD_PORT=786; starting rpc.statd using
the '-p' caused the daemon to die with a 'permission denied' error

– LOCKD_TCPPORT & LOCKD_UDPPORT did not work as expected; setting the TCP
and UDP network ports that the in-kernel lockd daemon listened on did not work.

– nfs could not be started remotely using the rsh command.

– MOUNTD_NFS_V2=no didn't work; as the mountd protocol version 1 and 2
handled NFS v2, both needed to be switched off to disable NFS v2.

– The rpc.gssd daemon failed with mixed case characters; the rpc.gssd
daemon, used with Secure NFS, did not understand DNS domain names that used
upper and lower case characters.

Users of nfs-utils are advised to update to these packages, which resolve
the aforementioned issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
Network to download and update your packages. To launch the Red Hat
Update Agent, use the following command:

up2date
