Updated bash packages that address several problems are now
available.

Description

Bash is the default shell for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

This updated version of bash fixes a UTF-8 parsing issue which could cause
the shell to crash; a PID problem with long-running shell programs; a
syntax parsing problem concerning sub-shells; and a race condition when
deconstructing chains of commands in a pipe.

Users should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
Network to download and update your packages. To launch the Red Hat
Update Agent, use the following command:

up2date
