Topic

An updated util-linux package that fixes several bugs is now available.

Description

The util-linux package contains a collection of basic system utilities.
The mount package contains a utility that makes a file system available for
use.

This update adds the following features to the mount command:

  • support for systems where the same partition is shared between different

devices (e.g. multipath kernel drivers)

  • support for OCFS and OCFS2 file systems

This update also fixes the following bugs:

  • The mount command reads LABELs from dm devices two times
  • The mount command and am-utils use different mtab locking
  • The fdisk command does not detect /dev/{cciss,cpqarray,ida}/cxdx disks
  • The dmesg command does not understand kernel log buffer size

– The fdisk command works incorrectly with SGI labeled disks

  • An issue with the group password in the newgrp command
  • An incomplete man page for the umount command
  • An incorrect label in the ipcs command output
  • An incomplete man page for the mkswap command
  • Incorrect information in the fstab man page
  • Wrong duplicate labels detection in the mount command
  • Incomplete PAM session support in the login command
  • An incomplete man page and help for evltune command
  • The /etc/shadow and /etc/gshadow permissions after using the vipw command
  • Incorrect information about sync option in the fstab man page
  • The fdisk command does not detect GPT partition tables
  • Missing hwclock support for new audit system
  • Buffer overflow in the sfdisk command
  • Missing Solaris partition detection in the fdisk command

All users of util-linux and mount should upgrade to this updated package,
which resolves these issues.
