View affected systems

Topic

Updated kudzu packages that fix various bugs are now available.

Description

Kudzu is a hardware probing tool that runs at system boot time to determine
what hardware has been added or removed from the system.

The following issues have been addressed in this update:

  • kudzu would segfault based on bad input in some cases
  • kudzu would not correctly catch when network devices were changed
  • wildcard entries in modules.pcimap were not handled correctly
  • if /usr was a separate partition, module loading at boot would not work
  • support for a network device type not available with the 2.6 kernel could

cause unpredictable results on IBM eServer iSeries servers

Also in this version of kudzu, support has been added for FDDI devices.

All users of kudzu should upgrade to these updated packages, which address
these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
