Topic

New initscripts and hotplug packages that fix various bugs are now available.

Description

Various bugs have been fixed in the initscripts and hotplug packages,
including:

  • Misuse of a grep command that could cause interfaces to be incorrectly

brought up by hotplug

  • Various memory issues in initlog
  • Commented interface-specific route files were not handled correctly
  • LVM setup and fsck were not run correctly on network block devices
  • A mistranslation caused extraneous error messages on boot
  • IPSEC routes were not set correctly
  • The prefdm display manager script did not quote arguments correctly
  • An interaction with RHGB used the wrong command

All of these bugs are corrected in this update.

The following features were added:

  • Support for alternate VLAN naming schemes
  • Support for setting up dmraid and multipath devices automatically
  • Support for restoring diskdump dumps done to swap partitions

Users should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
