Topic

An updated logrotate package that addresses various bugs is now available.

Description

The logrotate utility simplifies the administration of multiple log files.
Logrotate allows for automatic rotation, compression, removal, and mailing
of log files.

This erratum addresses the following bugs:

  • Previously, logrotate failed to do anything if there were files

configured for rotation without SELinux file context.

  • The -v option was mentioned but not described in the man page.
  • The /var/lib/logrotate/status file mentioned in the man page

did not exist (should be /var/lib/logrotate.status).

All users of logrotate should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
