RHBA-2005:164 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
shadow-utils bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated shadow-utils package that fixes the maximum group name length
and man page is available.
Description
The shadow-utils package includes the necessary programs for
converting UNIX password files to the shadow password format, plus
programs for managing user and group accounts.
Previously, the length of a group name was arbitrarily limited to 16
characters. This update extends the length to the linux limit (31 characters).
Additionally, the man pages are now in UTF-8 format.
Users that need long group names or have problems viewing the man pages for
a particular locale should upgrade to this package, which resolves these
issues.

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
