RHBA-2005:121 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
devlabel bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated devlabel package that fixes various bugs is now available.
Description
The devlabel package allows for consistent mounting of devices. This is
accomplished through tagging a unique identifier to each device/symlink
combination and confirming that the identifier still matches the device
name before it allows the symlink mapping to proceed.
This update fixes the following bugs introduced in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
3 Update 4:
- devlabel failed to boot if /user was a separate partition
- devlabel failed to boot if /tmp was a symlink to !=root-filesystem
- devlabel failed to recognise SCSI drives
This update also allows use from the root partition.
All users of devlabel should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
