  • Minimal GUI to run Gnome-Terminal on headless server

    Posted on

    Hello,

How can I modify my remote RHEL 8.x server, so that I can do RDP from windows and run Gnome-Terminal? The server is already running with No GUI.
Also note, there is no monitor attached. It is a headless server.

I do not want to install full GUI environment etc. Minimal "GUI" install is what I want.

I wish to use xrdp (as I think it is faster and secure then VNC).

Objective is to run these three apps (at max):
    1. GUI-Terminal (requirement)
    2. wireshark (optional)
    3. firefox (optional)

Multiple users should be able to run their own sessions independently of others.

    Please advice.

    Thank you.
    RJ
