Could anyone point me in the direction of an install and configuration guide for Samba on Linux Server 7

Hi Mark,

Please tell us what do you want to build?

A Samba server or a client?
Does this Samba enviroment have to use AD?

Answering an one sentence question without these details can be dangerous for we might point you in the wrong direction.

http://www.samba.org can be a begin. But some examples are a bit difficult to understand/implement.

hi there we have just purchased a server and install Linux server 7 onto it, it is going to be used by our website team not sure what they are goping to be using it for.

From an IT perspective i need to add our Linux Server to our windows based Domain controller Serer 2012 R2, and was told you need samba to do this. any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi Mark,

please take a look through How do I authenticate Red Hat Enterprise Linux to Active Directory using SSSD? and there is a short video on doing this from Anaconda.

If you need to have mounted shares, then Samba will be a prerequisite, but if not, you may be able to achieve your goal with SSSD alone.
