Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager

Latest response

I read from some older RHEV-M installation manual that it can be installed only on the MS Windows Server 2008. Is that still the case with the latest versions of the RHEV Environment or can it be run on top of the RHEL 6.X?

Hi Thomas,

Current releases run on RHEL 6.x.
The release I am certified on RHEV 3.1 uses a RHEL 6.x OS for the RHEV-M and RHEV-H.
The MS Windows Server 2008 requirement has been dropped.

Document below describes the requirements for current release 3.4:

See section 1.2.3

Kind regards,

To confirm what Jan stated... my entire RHEV environment (currently RHEV 3.2) was constructed without a single Windows machine involved. No Internet Explorer... no Microsoft Windows. I just enjoy being able to say all that ;-)

RHEV 2.2 was the last release that required Microsoft Windows to run RHEV-M. Anything RHEV 3.0 and newer is RHEL-based.
