Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Virtual Datacenters on Xenserver?

Latest response

Hi all,
I want to build a test environment on a single physical, standalone server and run approximately 20 RHEL VMs.
I am assuming that I can install the free Xenserver to provide the bare metal O/S, and then purchase Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Virtual Datacenters, Standard (unlimited guests) to install all my VMs??
Any advice welcomed.

Many thanks,
Mark

Mark, Xenserver is not a certified/supported hypervisor for Red Hat guests. So if you do go ahead with this, the support from Red Hat will be greatly limited due to the hypervisor choice.

Hope this helps!

Understood.
Irrespective of what Hypervisor I choose then, which RedHat product do I need to purchase to allow unlimited guests on my standalone server?

Although I'm not in sales, I believe that is the correct product. I'd still reach out to a Red Hat Sales, your preferred reseller etc. to make sure first. Thanks!
