Update Openssl pacage from 0,9,8 to 1.0

Hi Currently, in my redhat linux server I have openssl package - openssl-0.9.8e-20.el5.

-> Now I want to update to openssl-1.0.1e-16.el6_5.7.

-> I have Question. Can we do direct upgrade to 1.0 or we have to upgrade one be one step.

-> If one by one step please help me in upgrading my linux server openssl patch.

The current latest version of OpenSSL available for RHEL5 is openssl-0.9.8e-27.el5_10.1

You cannot install the RHEL6 OpenSSL package ending el6 on RHEL5 where packages end el5.

Is your intention to work around the Heartbleed bug? OpenSSL as-shipped in RHEL5 is not vulnerable to that issue:
