Does Satellite 5.6 support Oracle 12c database?

Latest response

I am looking to install Satellite 5.6 with an external Oracle database. As version 11g premier support will reach end of life on 31 Jan 2015, I would like to start with Oracle 12c. Does Satellite 5.6 support Oracle 12c? If not, will it eventually?

Does anyone else care about this issue? Or are others willing to accept either an embedded database or an external database of Postgresql. Neither of which would be best to use if you are required to harden according to standard compliance policy or checklist like a STIG.

In general, Oracle STIGs (and CVE fixes) don't have a hard-enforcement with respect to embedded instances of the database. Most cases, you can POAM the finding - citing a dependency on the vendor of the overall COTS application releasing and updated, certified stack.

Oracle's been fairly decent about backwards compatibility within the SQL command-sets between adjacent releases. Unless RedHat's using deprecated calls to the DB, you should be able to sub-out to your desired version.

Any straight statement from RH yet?
