Subscription manager migration

Latest response

So I have started moving my 50 servers from Classic to Subscription Management. Thing is they don't beleive they have any products installed. I can't beleive how hard RedHat is making this for me. I am now on with support and it is taking 20 minutes to get started.

Is there really no way to generate .pem files? How come it works for new installs? Is there a reason my old servers that had different SKU's can't figure out they are running RHEL 5?

At this point if feels like RedHat is a waste of time and money.

Why this isn't documented somewhere I have no idea.

Are you using the rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm tool as provided by subscription-manager?

Also lots of resources at:
https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Subscription_Management/ with an entire document dedicated to "Migrating from RHN Classic." Sorry you are hitting issues. :-(

Yes. The tool indicates that there is no match between my system and the available flavours.

I have read the docs. I am truely enjoying the 30 minute spin with email support response.

Now I am waiting on the ticket system to actually let me download the 69.pem they are recommending. For some reason the one I used off of one of my hosts hasn't worked completely.

At this point the whole thing is a disaster. Two days fighting licensing? This is horrible.

Hi there fellow migrators ;) Do you know which repo I need to connect to download subscription-manager-migration rpm for RHEL 5.8. Currently I don't have any repo connected and cant connect because RHN is not available anymore...
