Keystroke resets Login Screen

After applying several update and rebooting the system I can't log in to it. Every keystroke on the login screen will reset the screen making it impossible to enter the password.

Hi Carlos,
What runlevel? (I assume 3 - text-based).

Have you tried CTRL-ALT-F2 (or another console)?
Also - does the console reset all the time or ONLY when you enter a key (just want to make sure).
Does remote logins (ssh, etc...) still work?
