  • Why two RHEL servers with same rpm level have different scsi driver configuration ?

    Posted on

    Hello,

I'm writing to you because i encountered an issue on a few virtual machines RHEL 8.10 and i find out the difference between them.

The virtual machines that encountered the issue have this file : /sys/class/scsi_disk/0:0:1:0/provisioning_mode
    With this configuration : disabled

And the virtual machines that not encountered the issue have the same file with another configuration (full or unmap).

All virtual machines are on VMWARE ESXI & vCenter 7 with the same level of rpm packages.
All ESXI have the same level of build.
All virtual machines are based on the same template.

Why the configuration of SCSI driver (/sys/class/scsi_disk/0:0:1:0/provisioning_mode) is so random ?

Here is the kernel version of my virtual machines : 4.18.0-553.8.1.el8_10.x86_64.

Can you help me to find out why ?

I can provide you more informations if you need.
