  • OpenShift trial - assisted installer unauthorized error

    Posted on

Does anyone know why my trial would refuse to work? Here's what I did:

    • Sign up for the OpenShift trial
    • Create a cluster in the "Install OpenShift with the Assisted Installer" on the website
    • Download the ISO image
    • Upload the ISO image to my vSphere server
    • Create an initial VM in my vSphere server with the ISO image above attached
    • Power on the VM

At this point the server never shows up in the website hybrid cloud console. I had to ssh into the server to get this error message:

May 17 23:50:47 localhost.localdomain podman[5954]: Error: initializing source docker://registry.redhat.io/rhai-tech-preview/assisted-installer-agent-rhel8:v1.0.0-257: unable to retrieve auth token: invalid username/password: unauthorized: Please login to the Red Hat Registry using your Customer Portal credentials. Further instructions can be found here: https://access.redhat.com/articles/3399531

Also FWIW the trial page says to call customer support if I have any installation issues, but they refuse to help at all. I don't really understand that, it's just frustrating and if anything makes me skeptical of their support if I actually bought a license.

    Thanks,
    Brandon
