  • which Kernel version linked to redhat realease

    Posted on

    Hello Community,

I was managing a redhat machine which was initially requested to be installed with rhel 8.4 .
Then I found that /etc/redhat-release is returning (8.6), so I've requested it tobe changed to 8.4 and I noticed that the installed used "yum downgrade" command and now the /etc/redhat-release is returning (8.4).

The confusing part is that the kernel version installed now "4.18.0-372.9.1" which I understand that it is related to 8.6 -- as per
    https://access.redhat.com/articles/3078

So, Would someone please explain whether this system is currently functioning with 8.4 or 8.6 ? How can I relate a redhat release from its kernel version?

    Best regards.
