  • How to enable gnome-classic when connecting via RDP to Red Hat 8

    Posted on

I'm at a loss on this, I need to use RDP to connect to a Red Hat 8.5 server.

Server has XRDP installed and running fine, when I connect to an account I get the default GNOME desktop.

I need the gnome-class desktop but not sure how to get that running.

I've altered the ~/.Xclients file and have an entry

    gnome-classic

Restart the xrdp server but when I connect via a RDP session it just terminates.

In the log, just says gnome-classic not found.

    In /usr/share/xsession there is a gnome-calssic.desktop file.

    Any ideas?
