Connecting to a VM Remotely

Latest response

I recently installed Virtual machines on a RHEL 8.6 host. I now want to connect to them remotely from a another machine. I’m using the cockpit interface to install, configure and manage the Virtual Machines.

I’ve been reading thru the Red Hat Enterprise Linux documentation, specifically Chapter 13 which discuss connecting to VM. The client machine is also a RHEL 8.6 workstation which I’m using Remote Desktop Viewer. After reading thru the chapter several times I’ve not been able to establish a connection. I can start and login to any VM when logged on to the HOST Machine.

Because I’m using cockpit I can log on to the host machine remotely and set the configuration of the Network Interfaces with no issues. However, I’ve not been able to come up with a configuration that works. I’ve added a network interface to my VM and configured it as a Type = direct, Model Type = virtio, Source = eno7. By doing the IP Address remains blank.

What else must I do to get my network interface to work?
