Samba works with one exception: W7 machine won't reconnect at login

Latest response

My Samba is working fine. But whenever I reboot my W7 machine, I always have to authenticate to connect to the network drive. "Reconnect at login" is checked. Is there any further configuration that needs to be done on my RHEL6 machine. I am thinking this is nor a W7 but I could be wrong. Please advise. Thanks, Dave

When connecting to the network drive (and setting up a persistent mount), did you specify a full username ("myserver\myusername")? Specifying a full host + username does the trick for me.

Is this done on my W7 machine? When I mapped the drive, I am looking at "\\myserver\sambafiles" Do I simply add" \myusername" at the end of the expression? Pls. Thanks, Dave

Hi David; this would be done on your W7 machine. When you go to map the network drive on the workstation, and are prompted for a username, specify the username as "myserver\myusername".
