Problems activating an Evaluation Subscription

Latest response

Hi,

I recently obtained an evaluation subscription for "30 Day Self-Supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux Developer Workstation Evaluation".

It's listed within my account portal.

I've installed 6.3 on my machine and successfully registered the machine. That machine appears correctly under Units > Systems with "0 Subscriptions Attached".

When I use the subscription manager (GUI or CLI) to try and attach the subscription to that machine, I get the error, "Error getting subscription. Too many content sets for certificate ... a newer client may be available to address this problem." It refers me to

I'm not quite sure how to interpret the content of that article. Is it suggesting I create a patch DVD to get an updated client?

Help would be greatly appreciated on this - I've spent several hours trying to understand the resolution.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

This is a known issue, see bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=818202 for more details.  Red Hat is working on it. As a work around, I suggest you to use RHN classic based registration model.

Thank you so much! It's 1:15am here and I've been struggling with this since this afternoon. So simple in hindsight :o

It's a bit poor that software is being distributed without a clearer explanation of this flaw.

NOTE: This will be fixed in RHEL 6.4, an updated subscription-manager package will resolve this issue. This is already fixed in RHEL 5.9 as well. Stay tuned! :-)

Andrius.

Great! Thanks for the update, Andrius.
