Active subscription but unable to register server

Latest response

I have an active subscription (self support) but when the newly installed server tries to register (firstboot and subsequently) I fill in all the information but get a "No Active Subscriptions Found" message.  Subscription info:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server, Self-support (1-2 sockets) (Up to 1 guest)

10047079

How do I get this to work?

John

Hey John, and thanks for posting in our Groups community. We'll try get a response to you soon.

Also, it looks like this got double-posted, so I deleted the duplicate post.

Thanks Henry.

Shyfur Rahman also posted a comment asking if I have another active system on this portal - no, I just have the one new server that I'm trying to register.  Also, do I have the correct number of sockets.  My understanding is that the number of sockets is the number of physical CPU's on the mother board.  This machine has 1 CPU; with 4 processors inside.

John

Somehow I seem to have registered this problem twice.  The other thread is found at:

    https://access.redhat.com/discussion/active-subscription-unable-register-server-1

A few responses refer to a badly configured firewall and refer me to:

This is NOT the problem, there is no outgoing restriction on what the server can connect to; in fact one of its duties calls for making outgoing SSL/TLS connections to servers owned by other entities than us.

John

Hi John,

I can answer your socket question.

You can execute the following:

# dmidecode -t4 | grep "Socket.Designation:" | wc -l

The results you get back will be the number of sockets on that system.

This info could be found at the link below:

How to determine number of CPU sockets on a system

I'm am looking into your registration issue.  I agree, I dont see a connectivity issue, you would have gotten different results.

Would you please email me with the pertinant bits?  Contract number, customer number etc, customer name the subscription is assigned to so as not to post that information on the forum?  The links in the other article did not come up with anything that I could help with.  My email is jlyle@redhat com  I may not be able to assist personally, but will be able to get you in contact with the correct folks.
