Proxy configuration

Latest response

Hello all,

When I installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 I used a proxy server with the rhn_register tool. Since then, I noticed all my requests are going to this proxy server...

I have no entry in yum.conf - I even added proxy=_none_ to it.

I have no environement variable.

When running yum, it is always going to the proxy server instead of going to the default gateway...

Please help. Thanks,

Xavier.

Hi, thank you for using the group!

If I am understanding properly, you first registered a given node using rhn_register and pointing it to your http proxy for servicing your internet destined requests/

I am assuming you are referring to an http_proxy, vice an RHN proxy?  If you are meaning an RHN proxy, please let me know.

When you yum update, all requests are going to said proxy.

in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date, there are several variables that effect this:

enableProxy[comment]=Use a HTTP Proxy
enableProxy=0

proxyPassword[comment]=The password to use for an authenticated proxy
proxyPassword=
proxyPassword[comment]=The password to use for an authenticated proxy
proxyPassword=
proxyPassword[comment]=The password to use for an authenticated proxy
proxyPassword=

httpProxy[comment]=HTTP proxy in host:port format, e.g. squid.redhat.com:3128
httpProxy=

enableProxyAuth[comment]=To use an authenticated proxy or not
enableProxyAuth=0

In the settings above, I am not using an HTTP Proxy, all my requests are going straight to RHN.

Please compare with your /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date and changes as appropriate.

If I am not understanding the issue, I apologize, please feel free to clarify for me.

Please let me know if this helps,

Thanks!
