Currently, we have not worked on integration with thin station specifically. However, we have been working to get a SPICE client integrated into the Linux firmware for IGEL, Wyse, and 10zig thin client vendors.

Thanks for the input on integration with thin station firmware. It's a great idea and we'll consider that going forward.

Thanks,

As an alternative to Thinstation, you could install EL6 with XFCE and xguest.

Hi there,

I have created a Red Hat spin (Xfce,spcie-xpi,Firefox, spice-usb-share, kmod-kspiceusb-rhel60). It's a read only image(squashfs) which boots from a USB and directly in to firefox pointing to the UserPortal, converting a normal PC in to a Thin Client. It works OK and boots in to the UserPortal in about 23 seconds. Size is 800MB

I haven't done any changes to the Kernel etc. The only thing is that the image is readonly.

I have a few questions:

Would this spin be supported by GSS ?

Is there any place I can share the image, with other users ? would it be legal ?

Hi Jesus,

Red Hat officially supports the SPICE client on Wyse Suse Linux and Windows Embedded, IGEL Linux and Windows Embedded, and 10zig Linux and Windows Embedded. Included in these offerings are also their own thin OS installation to convert a normal PC into a thin client as well (i.e. IGEL Universal Desktop Converter [UDC]).

Since SPICE is open source, anyone can of course design/create their own client, as you have done. However, I cannot speak for whether or not Red Hat support would officially support it. My guess is, it would only be "best efforts" to help solve any issues. However, I recommend you contact support directly to inquire.

Also, if you would like to share with the community, I recommend you visit the community site at www.spice-space.org.

Cheers,

-Jeff
