RHEV 2.2 user permissions

Latest response

Has anyone found a way to restrict a user in RHEV 2.2 to a particular DC, or even a particular set of VMs?

We're just using servers at the minute, no desktops, and it seems strange that there'd be no provision for this.

Are you saying that a user need to be given administrative access  to all resources in a single DC, like clusters, storage, hosts and etc and not other Dcs?

If yes, the above is not possible in RHEV-2.2. If you use RHEV3, this can be achieved.

For vms, in RHEV2.2, you can assign selected vms to a user and let him access those vms via userprotal and he can start/stop/access console fo those vms from user portal.

You cannot give admin access to only selected vms in Administrator portal to a specific user in RHEV-2.2. However you can give admin access to manage all vms (only vms and no other resources) through admin portal.

RHEV3 will give you the option to restrict a user to specific vms for administrative purpose in the admin portal.

Thanks, but RHEV 3 is essentially useless for production environments at the minute.

in RHEV 2.2 you say you can assign a VM to a user and then they are able to manage it via the user portal - is this actually correct?

Note that I mentioned I'm talking purely about server VMs here - I do not see a way to add a user to a server VM.

Sorry. It was my mistake. The above is only available for Desktop Vms, not for Server vms.
