Best Failover Option
Just looking for the best solution for failover on rhel 6
Currently have nginx as the reverse proxy and doing the loadbalancing as well. But i would like to have a failover option for this server (during pacthing etc).
Is keepalived the best option for this ?
thanks

We offer Red Hat Cluster Suite as a high availability add-on to RHEL. Sales can provide you with a supported or unsupported evaluation if you'd like to give it a try.
keepalived is not supported by us (though it is supplied as a tech Tech Preview) but that's another option too.
"Best solution" is always a matter of what you're trying to accomplish and how much you want to spend (in dollars and/or complexity).
Right now, given your statement that you're using nginx to do reverse-proxy and load-balancing, it sounds like your solution already has a minimum of two content-serving nodes. What additional level of functionality is it that you think you want (or will get) by adding further availability layers? Also, are you simply looking to make your web front-end more available, or are you seeking to provide resiliency to other layers of an N-tier stack? If the latter, what are those other tiers (not just "app" and/or "db" - what specific components do you have in place - such as WebSphere or Oracle, etc.).
